Overview

Kidney disease occurs when the kidneys become damaged and can no longer perform their proper function (removing waste and extra water from the bloodstream). Diabetes and high blood pressure are two of the most common causes of kidney disease, which resulted in 10% of deaths in Australia in 2007.*

Kidney disease impacts your oral health as well. Among the oral care issues are dry mouth, bad breath and an increase in plaque and gum disease.
