Stain Guide Directions: Beverages (including soft drinks,coffee, tea, alcohol -wine stains are treated differently)

Immediately

Sponge or rinse stains with cool water or soda water.

Pretreat

Soak for 1 hour or overnight for heavy stains in an enzyme pre-treater/water solution made with 1 lid of Sard Oxy Plus Soaker in 7 litres of warm water. Or, rub the stained area with Dynamo liquid or with a paste of granular detergent, such as Cold Power powder and water. (Use rubber gloves to protect your hands.) Allow to stand for 30 minutes.

Then Wash

Use Cold Power powder or Dynamo liquid and wash as the care label recommends.

Blood/Meat Juice

Stain Guide Directions: Blood/Meat Juice

Immediately

For Fresh Stains : Hold the stained area face down under cold running water until water runs clear. For Dried Stains: Scrape as much of the blood off the fabric as possible.

Pretreat

For Fresh Stains: Rub the stain with Sard Wonder Stick, Soap, or Spray, following pack instructions, let stand for 30 minutes, then rinse with cold water. For Dried Stains: Soak for 1 hour or overnight for heavy stains in an enzyme pre-treater/water solution made with 1 lid of Sard Oxy Plus Soaker in 7 litres of warm water.

Then Wash

Use Cold Power powder or Dynamo liquid and wash as the care label recommends.

Chewing Gum

Stain Guide Directions: Chewing Gum

Immediately

Put in freezer, allow to harden then scrape off with a dull knife. Loosen remaining bits with eucalyptus oil.

Pretreat

Cover stain with Sard Wonder Stick, Soap or Spray, following pack instructions.

Then Wash

Use Cold Power powder or Dynamo liquid and the hottest water safe for the fabric and wash as the care label recommends.

Dairy Products

Stain Guide Directions: Dairy Products and Eggs (including milk)

Immediately

Rinse by holding stained area face down under cool running water.

Pretreat

Soak for 1 hour or overnight for heavy stains in an enzyme pre-treater/water solution made with 1 lid of Sard Oxy Plus Soaker in 7 litres of warm water.

Then Wash

Use Cold Power powder or Dynamo liquid and wash as the care label recommends.

Mustard

Immediately

Blot up excess.

Pretreat

Cover stain with a Sard Wonder Stick, Soap or Spray, following pack instructions.

Then Wash

Use Cold Power powder or Dynamo liquid and wash as the care label recommends.

Stain Guide Directions: Wine (Red and White)

Immediately

Flush with cool soda water. If red wine pour white wine directly over the stain before flushing with soda water.

Pretreat

Cover stain with a paste of Sard Oxy Plus Soaker and water before soaking in Sard Oxy Plus Soaker in warm water as per instructions.

Then Wash

Use Cold Power powder or Dynamo liquid and wash as the care label recommends.

Grass

Pretreat

Deodorant/Anti-Perspirant

Pretreat

Rub stains with white vinegar and allow to stand for half an hour before rinsing with cold water. Rub the stain with Sard Wonder Stick or Soap or Spray following pack instructions, let stand for 30 minutes, then rinse with cold water.

Then Wash

Use Cold Power powder or Dynamo liquid and wash as the care label recommends.

Sunscreen

Immediately

Sponge with methylated spirits.

Pretreat

Then Wash

Collar/Cuffs

Pretreat

Perspiration

Stain Guide Directions : Perspiration

Pretreat

Use a prewash stain remover such as Sard Wonder Stick, Soap or Spray, following pack instructions. If colour of fabric has changed, apply ammonia to fresh perspiration stains or white vinegar to old stains. Rinse.

Then Wash

Use Cold Power powder or Dynamo liquid and wash as the care label recommends. For stubborn stains, soak in Sard Oxy Plus Soaker overnight as per label instructions.

Nail Polish

Stain Guide Directions: Nail Polish

Immediately

Check the fibre content of the fabric. If it is acetate or triacetate, Do not use nail polish remover. Have the garment professionally dry cleaned.
Otherwise, place fabric face down on paper towels and apply nail polish remover to the back of the fabric. Replace paper towels with clean ones until the polish is gone.

Then Wash

Use Cold Power or Dynamo liquid and the hottest water safe for the fabric, as care label recommends. If some colour remains, wash again and use Sard Oxy Plus Soaker as per label instructions.

Sunscreen

Blood

Immediately

Acrylic:

Blot with tissues to remove as much paint as possible and wash using Dynamo liquid and the hottest water safe for the fabric.

Oil based and varnish:

Dab with the same solvent the label on the paint/varnish advises for thinner. If label is not available, use turpentine. Rinse and wash with Dynamo liquid and the hottest water safe for the fabric.

Crayon

Stain Guide Directions: Crayon

Immediately

Apply ice to harden. Scrape off surface crayon.

Pretreat

Place stained fabric between paper towels, press from the back of fabric with a warm iron. Replace paper towels as soon as wax melts onto them, getting as much wax off as possible. Place wax stain face down on clean paper towels, sponge Sard Wonder Stain Stick or spray Sard Wonder Spray on the back of fabric. Allow to evaporate.

Then Wash

Use Cold Power powder or Dynamo liquid and wash as the care label recommends. If some colour remains after washing, pre-treat with Sard Wonder Stick or Spray, allow to stand 30 minutes, then wash again.

Crayon

Stain Guide Directions: Crayon

Immediately

Apply ice to harden. Scrape off surface crayon.

Pretreat

Place stained fabric between paper towels, press from the back of fabric with a warm iron. Replace paper towels as soon as wax melts onto them, getting as much wax off as possible. Place wax stain face down on clean paper towels, sponge Sard Wonder Stain Stick or spray Sard Wonder Spray on the back of fabric. Allow to evaporate.

Then Wash

Use Cold Power powder or Dynamo liquid and wash as the care label recommends. If some colour remains after washing, pre-treat with Sard Wonder Stick or Spray, allow to stand 30 minutes, then wash again.

Ink

Stain Guide Directions: Ink

Immediately

Identify the type of ink (ballpoint, felt tip, or another type of ink). A permanent ink cannot be removed. Refer to a dry cleaner for professional help. Even ink that can be removed is tricky. Do not dilute or sponge with water. This can cause ink to “set" permanently. Instead, proceed with caution as you pre-treat the stain.

Pretreat

Place the stain face down on paper towels. Spray aerosol hairspray on stain or apply denatured alcohol to back of stain. Replace paper towels frequently. Rinse with cool water.

Then Wash

Use a Dynamo liquid and the hottest water safe for the fabric. Use chlorine bleach if care label allows; otherwise, use Sard Oxy Plus Soaker.

Paint

Stain Guide Directions: Paint

Acrylic

Blot with tissues to remove as much paint as possible and wash using Dynamo liquid and the hottest water safe for the fabric.

Oil based and varnish
