My Colgate® ProClinical® electric toothbrush stopped working before I was able to finish cleaning my teeth, why did it switch off?
The Colgate® ProClinical® electric toothbrush is designed to turn off automatically after two minutes - this is the amount of time dental professionals recommend for optimum brushing. We suggest you use the 30-second pacer, which indicates how long to spend on each section of your mouth (i.e. top right, top left, bottom right and bottom left).
While dental professionals recommend two minutes, if desired, you may extend this by beginning the brushing cycle again to continue cleaning your teeth and mouth.
Sometimes I want a quick brush. Can I turn the electric toothbrush off whenever I want?
The Colgate® ProClinical® electric toothbrush is equipped with an automatic timer as an enhanced feature. If desired, you can always just switch the product off if you don't want to brush for the full two minute cycle.
What does Optimum brushing mode mean?
The Optimum brushing mode provides massaging in and out strokes to clean along the gum line.
What do the different Colgate® ProClinical® electric toothbrush sounds mean?
The Colgate® ProClinical® electric toothbrush operates with a high frequency vibration that naturally generates some noise.
The A1500 model makes different noises as it adjusts the brushing speeds and actions for particular areas of the mouth. The C600 makes different noises in different modes. The user must adjust the modes manually using the button on handle.
How long should the Colgate® ProClinical® electric toothbrush last?
The Colgate® ProClinical® electric toothbrush is warrantied for 2 years, but has been engineered and made to strict manufacturing standards so that, with proper handling and care, it should last well beyond that.
Dental professionals advise that patients replace their manual toothbrush every three months, so replacement toothbrush heads should be changed every three months, or when the bristles begin to splay or show significant wear.
Are the replacement toothbrush heads interchangeable between all three models?
Yes, the two toothbrush heads (Triple Clean and Sensitive) are interchangeable on all variants of Colgate® ProClinical® electric toothbrushes. (Please note that these replacement toothbrush heads do not fit the 360 or Optic White battery powered brushes or previously purchased Omron electric toothbrushes.)
What is the difference between the Triple Clean and Sensitive toothbrush heads? Is there anything on the head to tell them apart?
You can tell the difference by the bristle colour and design – only the Triple Clean toothbrush heads have blue and white spiral bristles.
The Triple Clean toothbrush heads clean in three ways:
- 1. The spiral bristles (blue/white) help remove surface stains
- 2. The tapered (white) bristles clean between teeth and along the gum line
- 3. The inner (blue) bristles help remove plaque from tooth surfaces
(The Triple Clean toothbrush head bristles are comparable to manual brush 'soft' bristles.)
The Sensitive toothbrush heads provide gentle and deep cleaning, and clean in two ways:
- 1. Ultra soft tapered outer bristles gently clean between teeth and along the gum line
- 2. Extra fine inner bristles gently clean tooth surfaces
(The Sensitive brush head bristles are comparable to manual brush 'extra soft' bristles.)
How can multiple family members use the same base?
The toothbrush heads for the Colgate® ProClinical® electric toothbrush come in multiple colours so each family member can have a unique colour. The four-pack of replacement toothbrush heads contains four toothbrush heads in four different colours (blue, green, light grey and dark grey).
I can’t seem to fit the replacement toothbrush heads on the electric toothbrush.
There is an angled slot in the bottom of the replacement toothbrush heads that matches with a rib on the stem of the base handle. You can gently rotate the refill head clockwise until it aligns and then snaps together, securing the replacement toothbrush head to the stem. The bristles should be facing forward and aligned to the on/off buttons at the front of the brush.
Do you have a special head for children’s use?
Generally, softer toothbrush heads are recommended for use by children. As a parent, you alone can assess the appropriateness of this product by your child. For specific concerns, seek the advice of your dental professional.
Do I need to change batteries?
The Colgate® ProClinical® electric toothbrush comes with a rechargeable battery which lasts the lifetime of the electric toothbrush. There is no need to change batteries, and opening the handle or removing the batteries will void the 2 year warranty. We recommend that you only remove the batteries prior to disposal of the toothbrush.
What batteries does this electric toothbrush use?
The rechargeable battery included in the brush is a nickel metal hydride (Ni-MH) battery.
How long should my rechargeable battery last on a full charge?
The Colgate® ProClinical® electric toothbrush charge should last approximately one week for one person brushing twice a day for the recommended two minutes.
Can I charge this for 16 hours in short intervals throughout the week rather than in one go?
We recommend that when you first open the Colgate® ProClinical® electric toothbrush, you initially charge it for 16 consecutive hours. Once it has been charged and used, it can be charged at shorter intervals between uses.
Can I leave it on the charger all the time?
Yes, the brush may be left in the charger, but it is not necessary to do so. There are multiple features in both the brush and charging mechanism that prevent overcharging. However, to save energy, we suggest you leave the charger unplugged between charges.
Can I charge it on my Oral-B®/Sonicare® charger?
No. The Colgate® ProClinical® electric toothbrush is not compatible with other charger bases.
If I leave my Colgate® ProClinical® electric toothbrush on constant charge, will it damage the brush or use a lot of electricity?
We recommend leaving the charger unplugged between charges for the most efficient energy consumption. Leaving the charger plugged in will not damage the electric toothbrush, but it will waste power.
I am traveling overseas where they have a different electrical system – how can I keep using my toothbrush?
What is the proper way to dispose of these batteries?
Check with your local authorities about how best to dispose of waste batteries. Do not open the handle unless permanently disposing of the toothbrush because this will void the warranty.
What is the proper way to dispose of the Colgate® ProClinical® brushes?
The electric toothbrush heads (replacements) can be disposed of as you would an ordinary manual toothbrush.
The electric toothbrush handle/base/recharger have instructions included in the product manual to disassemble and properly dispose of the brush component. Check with your local authorities about how best to dispose of waste batteries. Do not open the handle unless permanently disposing of the toothbrush because this will void the warranty.
What is the difference between teeth and molars? I thought molars were teeth, is this not the case?
Molars are teeth. However, cleaning the molars can be a challenge because of their location in the back of the mouth and their structure. This makes them more at risk for oral diseases such as tooth decay or cavities and gingivitis.
How do I change between the three brushing modes on the Colgate® ProClinical® C600? And how do I know when to change?
You may change brushing modes by pressing the mode button. The Optimum mode (mid speed) has no light, the Sensitive mode (low speed) has a yellow light, and the Deep clean mode (high speed) has a blue light. You can change the mode based on your preference and oral care needs.
Can I use the Colgate® ProClinical® electric toothbrush with crowns? Whitening procedures? Fillings? Veneers?
Yes, the Colgate® ProClinical® electric toothbrush may be safely used with most common dental procedures and conditions. If you have any concerns, please consult with your dentist or dental hygienist.
I usually brush my teeth in the shower. Is it OK to do this with an electric toothbrush?
The Colgate® ProClinical® electric toothbrush is water resistant, but not waterproof. We do not recommend using the electric toothbrush in the shower.
Is the Colgate® ProClinical® electric toothbrush still safe to use if I’ve got it wet/dropped it in water/used it in the shower?
The Colgate® ProClinical® electric toothbrush is water resistant, but not waterproof. We recommend not using the brush in the shower. If dropped in water, let it dry out, and then wait 24 hours before recharging or using again.
How should I clean the Colgate® ProClinical® electric toothbrush?
To properly clean the Colgate® ProClinical® electric toothbrush and charger:
- - Wash toothbrush heads with water.
- - Wipe handle and charger with damp cloth.
- - Dry handle completely before putting it back in the charger.
